To the Yale Community, 

I write to let you know that a robbery occurred at 6:15 pm this evening in front of the Hotel Duncan, 1151 Chapel Street. A member of the Yale Community was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette. The man subsequently cut the bag strap on the community member's shoulder bag and fled with the bag.  No physical injuries were reported. Witnesses provided information assisting the police in investigating this incident and the New Haven police are investigating.
